App Store keyword research works best when it is tied to real product intent. High volume terms alone are not enough if users from those queries do not activate in-app.

Workflow

  1. Start from seed terms linked to core app jobs-to-be-done.
  2. Expand with long-tail and variant phrasing by locale.
  3. Group terms by intent: feature, problem, and category.
  4. Place terms across title, subtitle, and keyword field with minimal overlap.

After each metadata update, measure downstream quality in ASO funnel analysis to verify that better rankings also improve onboarding and activation.
